A Philadelphia man was arrested Monday morning in the Oct. 1 drunken-driving death of a Camden County woman, police said.
Kenney Bellegarde, 21, was found at his home in the 6600 block of Hollis Street in West Oak Lane and was taken into custody without incident, said Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk. Police had been unable to find him until Monday.
Bellegarde is charged with vehicular homicide and two counts of assault by auto. He allegedly was driving a green Saturn around 10 p.m. on Route 30, swerving into oncoming traffic, when it crashed into a Dodge at Route 73 in Waterford Township.
Vanessa Tomlin, 22, of Waterford, a passenger in the Dodge, died early the next morning at Cooper University Hospital. Amanda Lewis, the driver of the Dodge and Tomlin's aunt, was badly injured, as was a passenger in the Saturn, Davins Bataille.
Police said Bellegarde admitted drinking at a wedding reception before the crash. Charges were filed Oct. 25 after toxicology tests found that his blood-alcohol level was nearly double the legal definition of drunken driving.
