Krueger-Braneky to run for state House seat from the 161st
SWARTHMORE Leanne Krueger-Braneky of Swarthmore, a businesswoman, has announced her candidacy for a Pennsylvania House seat from the 161st District.
Krueger-Braneky, a Democrat who has worked to support small businesses, said she would like to take that experience to Harrisburg. She said the state should "create a level playing field where small businesses get the same treatment that large corporations get."
Krueger-Braneky, 37, will challenge Republican Rep. Joe Hackett in her first campaign for public office.
She works in economic development, and is director of fellowship and alumni for the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies. Krueger-Braneky was the first executive director of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia. She said all of her work has focused on small businesses.
The 161st District includes Aston, Brookhaven, Nether Providence, Rose Valley, Rutledge, Swarthmore, and parts of Ridley and Springfield Townships. - Laura McCrystal
