A Mount Laurel man was charged with murder in connection with the death of a Gloucester Township woman who was reported missing Thursday, authorities said Friday evening.
Miguel Angel Diaz, 30, allegedly beat Susan D. Johnson to death and left her body in a wooded area near the 5000 block of Commonwealth Drive in Evesham Township, authorities said.
Investigators believe the beating occurred in her Gloucester Township home on Dec. 5.
Johnson and Diaz worked together at a cleaning business, authorities said. Diaz and a woman who witnessed the incident were living with Johnson at the time.
Johnson, 59, was last seen leaving her residence last Friday on the unit block of Skyline Drive and was reported missing by a family member Thursday, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.
When Gloucester Township police checked her home Thursday, they found signs of a struggle, the Prosecutor's Office said.
Detectives initially detained Diaz and the unidentified woman for questioning in connection with the case. The woman offered information that led investigators to the body Friday morning. She was not charged.
