A pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday while she attempted to cross a Bucks County roadway.

The 28-year-old woman was walking south on Knights Road when she tried to cross Street Road shortly before 6 a.m., Bensalem Public Safety Director Fred Harran said.

Police identified the woman as Christina Massie, of Bensalem, later Tuesday morning.

Investigators believe the woman was crossing against the traffic signal and in or near the crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle traveling on Street Road, Harran said.

That vehicle had a green light and the driver stopped after the crash.

Massie was then hit by another vehicle, which left the scene of the accident, authorities said. That driver may not have realized the woman was on the ground and had been struck again, Harran said.

Police located the driver of the second vehicle in New Jersey a short time later.

Both drivers, who were not immediately identified, are being interviewed.

Massie was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Police said the incident remains under investigation and anyone with information should call 215-633-3700.
