As far as his fans are concerned, the sentencing Monday of rapper Meek Mill to 2 to 4 years in prison for violating probation was a travesty of justice.
"The time does not fit the crime," Sakinah Lester wrote on Facebook. "His behavior shows he lacks common sense, but this sentence screams, 'Unjust!' "
A lot of fan ire was directed to the fact that one of the violations was Mill getting arrested and pleading guilty to reckless driving charges for performing wheelies and other stunts on a dirt bike in New York.
"Damn popping wheelies gets u jail time," Orlando Nicks wrote on Facebook.
On Twitter, a user named Just wrote: "Meek mill is going to prison for 2-4 years for violating probation. Cops walk free when they kill people ON camera. Smh [shaking my head]."
The Upper Darby Police Department, known for having fun with its Twitter account, wrote: "Please don't call us begging to free Meek. It wasn't us."
Twitter user Money Mitch wrote: "Judge would've thrown Meek back in jail for double parking. Didn't matter what he did smh."
When another user commented that Meek's career might be over, Money Mitch disagreed.
"Nah the streets love Meek. We gone be waiting for [fire] when he get home."
