Cops: He scammed steamy photos

FULLERTON, Calif. - Police say a Southern California computer repairman installed spyware on laptops that enabled him to snap and download photographs of women showering and undressing in their homes.

FULLERTON, Calif. - Police say a Southern California computer repairman installed spyware on laptops that enabled him to snap and download photographs of women showering and undressing in their homes.

Fullerton police Sgt. Andrew Goodrich says Trevor Harwell, 20, installed software that took control of computer webcams and sent error messages telling users to "try putting your laptop near hot steam for several minutes to clean the sensor."

Goodrich says some victims took their laptops into the bathroom with them as they showered.

Detectives seized hundreds of thousands of images from Harwell's computer.

Police began investigating when a man complained about suspicious messages appearing on his daughter's computer. Harwell was arrested yesterday.
