Girl seizes face-time moment

Michelle Obama's annual question-and-answer session with the children of Executive Office employees took a serious turn Thursday when a 10-year-old girl told the first lady that her father had been out of work for three years. Then the girl popped up to hand over his resumé.

Obama seemed a little taken aback, then explained to the other children that "she's doing something for her dad." She promised to deal with it later. When the event ended, she gave the girl, Charlotte Bell, a hug and grabbed the resumé as she left the East Room. Charlotte's father, Ben Bell, who worked on the 2012 Obama campaign, has been looking for a job, but her parents - her mother works for the executive branch - say they didn't know she would take such a step. - AP
