A man and woman jumped out of the stands and into a bullfighting ring in southern France on Sunday to protest the sport.

The bull, however, did not get the memo that the protesters were on his side.

The bull charged the male protester, tossed him up in the air like pizza dough, then charged him again as he lay on the ground. Several matadors jumped in and steered the bull away from doing more more damage.

The Daily Mail reported the man received "a long but not deep" wound. The woman was not injured – but was arrested.

Bullfighting is already banned in most of France but continues in a few areas where it is part of the cultural history.
