Dead couple, man identified in two Phila. shootings

Philadelphia police yesterday identified three people who died in two shootings Monday. In an apparent murder-suicide, Galina and Rudolf Zherebchevsky were found in their garage in the 800 block of Barlow Street in the Somerton section of the Northeast early in the afternoon, Officer Tanya Little of the Public Affairs Unit said. Galina, 62, was shot in the head and Rudolf, 67, in the mouth. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. At 8:49 p.m., police found Eric Byrd, 27, of Olney, with multiple gunshot wounds on the ground near Ninth Street and Lindley Avenue in Logan, where a crowd had gathered. Byrd was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and pronounced dead at 9:14 p.m. No arrests were reported. - Barbara Boyer and Robert Moran
