Volunteers of America seeking donations to help 500 families

COLLINGSWOOD The Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking donations to help 500 needy families in the region celebrate the Christmas holidays. In partnership with 95.7 Ben FM, the VOA is asking for toys, clothing, and other items as part of its annual "Adopt a Family" program.

Individuals or companies can "give hope to those in need" and "make this Christmas one to remember," the VOA said in a release. Many of the 500 families on the list are headed by struggling single parents, according to the VOA.

Those interested in contributing may donate cash or may choose a family, based on size, and receive a wish list. To adopt a family, contributors will be asked to provide a minimum of one new toy or gift for each child, one new outfit or piece of clothing for each child and one grocery store gift card for the family.

Cash donations will be combined with other items to complete the gift packages.

"Our Adopt a Family campaign gives families in need a chance to have a wonderful holiday," Daniel Lombardo, Volunteers of America Delaware Valley president and CEO, said in a statement. "It's one of our favorite campaigns because the results are immediate and impactful."

Gifts may be sent to or dropped off at the Volunteers of America Delaware Valley main office at 235 White Horse Pike, Collingswood. Cash donations may be mailed or provided online.
