An unexpected ménage a trois in a Jersey Shore motel room ended in the arrests of two young women and a Tennessee man over the weekend, authorities said.

Officers were called for a possible robbery early Saturday morning to the Clarion Hotel in Egg Harbor Township, police said.

Rudy Quintana, 41, had been "employing a prostitute" he picked up in Atlantic City when her partner snuck into the room and attempted to steal Quintana's wallet and cell phone. She wasn't sneaky enough. Quintana caught sight of the other woman and attempted to stop her. He was unsuccessful. For his trouble, the women beat him and shot pepper spray into his face, police said.  An ambulance took Quintana to AtlantiCare City campus to have his injuries treated.

Police arrested Saketa Wills, 19, of Norristown, Pa., and Tenasia Washington , 18, of Plainfield, N.J. The two women were charged with conspiracy, robbery and aggravated assault and were held at the Atlantic County jail on $25,000 bail each. Wills was also charged with prostitution.

Quintana was charged with soliciting for prostitution and released on a summons.
