A 20-year-old man was killed when his roommate picked up a gun from a table in their apartment in the Far Northeast, pointed it at his face, and pulled the trigger, police said yesterday.
The roommate, Eric Kadish, 19, was charged yesterday with murder and possession of an instrument of crime with intent.
Kadish called the shooting Wednesday accidental, Homicide Lt. Philip Riehl said, but Riehl added that pointing a gun at someone and pulling the trigger is "reckless enough to cause you to be charged with murder."
The motive is listed as unknown, he said.
Eric Aberman was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon in the apartment, on the 100 block of Fairdale Road in the Parkwood Manor section.
It was the 181st homicide of 2007.
The 182d was recorded yesterday just after midnight when a man who had been shot in the stomach in North Philadelphia died at Temple University Hospital.
Police found Blair Mundy, 37, of East Falls, wounded on the 400 block of West Wyoming Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police said they had no motive or suspects.
