Guilty plea in motor-vehicle bribery attempt
An Ocean County man admitted in court yesterday that he tried to bribe a motor vehicle employee to issue driver's licenses to people not authorized to have them.
Kenan Yilmaz, 36, of Plumstead, pleaded guilty to bribery in Superior Court in Burlington County. The state will recommend that Yilmaz serve five years in state prison, and he will be sentenced in January.
Between January and March, Yilmaz repeatedly asked a clerk at the Medford Motor Vehicle Agency to issue licenses to people who did not have the proper forms of identification. Yilmaz offered the clerk amounts of money ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 for each of the licenses. The clerk refused each time, according to the Attorney General's Office.
