Reinaldo Barreto, 78, was crossing Lehigh Avenue near Mascher Street, about a mile from his North Philadelphia home, when a vehicle ran a red light and struck him. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses described the vehicle that struck him as a white SUV or minivan, which took off eastbound on Lehigh Avenue after the accident. - James Osborne
