'Mechanical issue' led to West Chester plane crash
The pilot was the only person on board and he was uninjured, police said
A small plane crash-landed near West Chester Sunday afternoon but the pilot was reported to have survived and suffered no significant injuries, police said.
On Monday, West Chester Borough Police said that it appeared the plane "suffered a mechanical issue" and the unidentified pilot made an emergency landing around 2 p.m. in a field near Frank Road and Route 322. The highway was shut down as authorities investigated.
The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating, police stated Monday.
Police said the pilot, the only person on board, was uninjured. Photos posted by the police department on Facebook appeared to show that the plane had lost one of its wings when it crashed. Further details about what happened were not immediately available.
