Hope Hicks, a former top Trump adviser, lands a big job at Fox

So much for the rumors Hope Hicks was going to return to the White House.

Hicks, a longtime adviser to President Trump who served as White House communications director during the first year of his administration, has landed a prominent new job at what has been dubbed "New Fox," the company announced Monday morning.

Hicks has been named executive vice president and chief communications officer for the company that will remain after Disney purchased most of 21st Century Fox's assets for $71.3 billion back in July. "New Fox" will include the Fox broadcast network, Fox News and FS1. Hicks, who was not quoted in the station's announcement and did not respond to a request for comment Monday, will be based in Los Angeles.

In her new role, Hicks will report to Viet Dinh, the company's chief legal and policy officer, and will work closely with Lachlan Murdoch, the oldest son of Rupert Murdoch who will act as chairman and CEO of the new Fox company when the deal with Disney officially closes. 21st Century Fox President Peter Rice told employees the deal would be completed no later than the summer of 2019.

Prior to joining Trump's presidential campaign in January 2015, Hicks worked as director of communication for the Trump Organization. She joined the White House after Trump's inauguration but left a little more than a year later in February,  just a day after she gave more than eight hours of private testimony before the House Intelligence Committee and acknowledged that she had occasionally been required to tell "white lies" on Trump's behalf.

"Fox won't find anyone smarter or more talented than Hope Hicks," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders wrote on Twitter Monday afternoon. "They are beyond lucky to have you and the East Coast misses you already."

Fox also announced that it was hiring former GE executive Danny O'Brien to be the new head of government relations. Prior to joining GE, O'Brien served as the chief of staff to several Democratic senators, including former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey.

"Danny is one of those exceptional people who are worth their weight in gold to this institution and anybody serving our country," Menendez said of O'Brien back in 2015.
