Woman, 78, fatally struck by vehicle on Roosevelt Boulevard
An unidentified woman was fatally struck Tuesday afternoon on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Castor Gardens section of Northeast Philadelphia.
A 78-year-old woman was fatally struck Tuesday afternoon by a pickup truck on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Castor Gardens section of Northeast Philadelphia, police said.
The accident occurred just before 2:15 p.m. on the southbound inner lanes at Tyson Avenue, police said. The woman had crossed halfway across the boulevard and had stepped off the center grass divider when she was hit by a 2006 Ford Ranger. Medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
The truck remained on location and its driver, a 21-year-old man, was not hurt, police said.
Police said the investigation of the accident was ongoing.
Roosevelt Boulevard is considered one of the most dangerous roads in the city.
