Marie Allen Kammerer, retired vice president of Reliance Insurance Group in Philadelphia, and a woman far ahead of her time, died Aug. 9.
Marie Allen Kammerer, retired vice president of Reliance Insurance Group in Philadelphia, and a woman far ahead of her time, died Aug. 9.
She was 94 and lived in Ocean City, N.J., and Jupiter, Fla., but was a former Philadelphian.
Marie was born in Philadelphia and lived in Center City when she was employed by Reliance.
She retired in the early '80s as director of consumer relations. She had worked with the company for 49 years.
"She was an early women's libber," said her nephew-in-law, Jack Schalk, onetime advertising salesman for the Daily News.
"She was a fun person, a real Auntie Mame type," he said.
Marie was a member of the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals and Insurance Industry Consumer Affairs Executives.
Her husband, Edward Arnold Kammerer, died in 1990.
She is survived by a sister, Mildred Allen Blake.
Services: Memorial service 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at the Margate Community Church, Ventnor Avenue, Ventnor, N.J.
