Kevin M. O'Neill, 66, of Maple Glen, a salesman and an enthusiastic host, died of an apparent heart attack Friday at his home.

The youngest of seven children, Mr. O'Neill enjoyed entertaining his large extended family. Every Memorial Day, he and his wife, Ellen Higley O'Neill, hosted a party for 120 relatives at Mondauk Park in Upper Dublin. Festivities featured his signature vodka-mint-and-lemonade cocktails, Mummers, and costumed characters.

At weddings, he distributed hats from his collection of more than 200, and caused a frenzy on the dance floor as people reached for their favorites, his family said. His own choice was an oversize green top hat.

He organized golf weekends in the Poconos for family and friends, and annual trips to Pennsylvania State University for football games and tailgating. He visited Ireland with a family group in 1998, and attended a three-day family reunion last year in Villanova.

Mr. O'Neill grew up in Mount Airy, where he met his future wife in eighth grade at Holy Cross Elementary School. He graduated from La Salle College High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Penn State. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

For more than 45 years, he was a salesman in the packaging industry; for the last 28 years, he was a salesman with Mannkraft Corp., a manufacturer of corrugated boxes in Tullytown.

In the 1990s, Mr. O'Neill was a pitcher for the 99ers softball team, playing with his son, Mark. When his daughter Megan pitched for Mount St. Joseph Academy in Flourtown and for the University of Rhode Island, he kept a catcher's mitt and balls in his car for on-the-go practice sessions, his wife said.

He often took his three grandchildren to the park or playground, she said.

In addition to his wife of 44 years and his daughter and son, Mr. O'Neill is survived by daughter Molly, two brothers, and two sisters.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Dr., Maple Glen. Friends may call from 9. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
