Michael J. "Mickey" Moyle, 64, vice president of corporate and fiscal operations for Gaudenzia Inc., a provider of drug- and alcohol-treatment services, died of cardiovascular disease Friday, July 1, while working out at the health club near his home in Linfield.

Mr. Moyle joined Gaudenzia's staff in 1998 as director of fiscal operations. He helped the not-for-profit program grow into the largest provider of its kind in Pennsylvania and extend services into Maryland and Delaware, said Michael Harle, president and chief executive officer.

In June, Harle presented Mr. Moyle with the Gaudenzia Honorary Graduate Award, presented annually to a non-client who exemplifies the values and qualities espoused by the organization.

After Mr. Moyle's death, Harle said: "I am so grateful that I got to say publicly what I've so often said privately about Mickey. We would not be where we are without him. He was a man like few others, and I am honored to have had all this time with him."

Mr. Moyle valued people with "deep smarts," who might not be highly educated but were willing to learn and had commitment, said his wife, Lynne Boury Moyle.

For nine years, before joining Gaudenzia, he was vice president of finance and corporate counsel for the Caron Foundation, a drug-treatment center in Berks County.

A native of Wheeling, W.Va., Mr. Moyle earned a bachelor's degree from West Liberty (W.Va.) State College and a law degree from West Virginia University.

While practicing law in Wheeling, he was appointed to complete a term in the West Virginia House of Delegates and then was elected to a full term.

From 1985 to 1989 he co-owned Wheeling Closure Co., a manufacturer of bottle caps.

He enjoyed working out, playing pickleball and golf, and spending time with his wife at their winter home in Summerfield, Fla.

The couple met in high school in Wheeling and reconnected years later when she needed legal advice. They married in 1971.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Moyle is survived by a daughter, Christine; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Albert; his father, John; a brother; a sister; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the Radisson Valley Forge Hotel, 1160 First Ave., King of Prussia.

Donations may be made to Gaudenzia Inc., 106 W. Main St., Norristown, Pa. 19401.
