Catherine Diaferia Amilcare, 70, of Haddonfield, owner and operator of the Bag Shoppe there in the 1990s, died of respiratory distress Tuesday, May 28, at Virtua Voorhees Hospital.

Catherine Diaferia Amilcare, 70, of Haddonfield, owner and operator of the Bag Shoppe there in the 1990s, died of respiratory distress Tuesday, May 28, at Virtua Voorhees Hospital.
Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Mrs. Amilcare was a graduate of Wappingers Falls (N.Y.) High School and then an administrator for her family firm, Morgan Fuel Co., in Poughkeepsie.
Mrs. Amilcare enjoyed a career in retail sales for several firms, a daughter, Tanya Moore, said.
The Bag Shoppe was a handbag and accessories store on Mechanic Street near Kings Highway in Haddonfield that she operated for about four years, her daughter said.
After running that store, Moore said, Mrs. Amilcare worked at Macy's Furniture Gallery in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and then at Best Foot Forward, a women's shoe store in Cherry Hill.
Besides her daughter Tanya, Mrs. Amilcare is survived by daughter Erica Mercante, two brothers, a sister, and four grandchildren. She is also survived by her former husband, Carlo.
A visitation was Thursday, May 30, at the Bradley Funeral Home, Marlton. A graveside service has been set for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
