Don Balman Blenko, 83, a corporate lawyer and longtime resident of Haverford, died Monday, May 20, of cardiovascular disease at Arden Courts in King of Prussia.

Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Walter John Blenko, a lawyer, and Ardis Jones Blenko. His grandfather William J. Blenko founded Blenko Glass Co., a Milton, W. Va., firm known for its artistic handblown glass.

For many years, Mr. Blenko specialized in corporate and antitrust law. At various times, he practiced at the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, Philco-Ford Corp., and Arco Chemical Co. He retired in 1991.

Mr. Blenko graduated from Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Amherst College, and earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

After law school, Mr. Blenko settled in the Philadelphia area.

Mr. Blenko and his wife, the former Katherine "Kitty" MacDonald, met at age 8 through their parents, who were longtime friends. They dated through college and married after Mr. Blenko's second year of law school.

The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in Bar Harbor, Maine, and their 60th anniversary with family and friends in Arden Courts.

His happiest times were spent vacationing with his family on Nantucket, Mass., where he read and solved crossword puzzles.

He loved attending Philadelphia Orchestra concerts and held season tickets with his wife for more than 50 years.

He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan "through good times and bad," his family said.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons David B., Thomas M., Don Jr., and James C.; a daughter, Katherine; nine grandchildren; two nephews; and a brother.

A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church Chapel, 625 Montgomery Ave. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 3, in Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
