Rita C. Yost, 87, formerly of Coatesville, a sales clerk in Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, of a lung ailment at Treasure Coast Hospice near her retirement home in Stuart, Fla.

Mrs. Yost worked as a clerk at the John Wanamaker and Strawbridge & Clothier department stores in Philadelphia for 20 years before retiring in 2000 to Florida. Her specialty was selling watches and linens.

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of Gaetano and Pasqualina Glazzi Canale and the wife of George D. Yost. Yost died in 1998.

Mrs. Yost worked beside her husband at Yost Photography before opening Rita's Bridal Shop in Thorndale.

After moving to Florida, Mrs. Yost was an active member of Civitan, a charity that aids people in need, and United Methodist Women, of the First United Methodist Church of Hobe Sound.

Devin Mojecki, her granddaughter, remembered Mrs. Yost as a loving mother and grandmother who was known for being generous, a discerning collector of antiques, and an "amazing cook."

"She never seemed to make the same dish twice," her granddaughter said. "Everything she touched was always delicious."

Surviving besides her granddaughter, is a daughter, Deborah McAllister; another granddaughter, Kaitlin; a sister; a niece; and three nephews.

A memorial service will be held in Florida on Saturday, Nov. 9. Burial is private.
