Joseph M. Blosenski Jr., 71, of Honey Brook, the founder of a trash hauling company in Chester County, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, of cancer at his home.

Joseph M. Blosenski Jr., 71, of Honey Brook, the founder of a trash hauling company in Chester County, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, of cancer at his home.
He was president of Blosenski Disposal Service in Elverson, which he started in 1962 with a pickup truck in his neighborhood. He owned and operated the refuse business for 30 years.
In 1994, the firm was bought by his son Anthony J. Sr. and renamed A.J. Blosenski Inc. Trash & Recycling Service. Joseph Blosenski became a vice president of his son's company.
Known for its maroon trash trucks, A.J. Blosenski operates in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Northampton, Schuylkill, Berks, and York Counties.
Mr. Blosenski was a member of the Pennsylvania Independent Waste Haulers Association, the National Solid Waste Management Association, and the Solid Waste Association of North America.In 1971, Mr. Blosenski purchased a 13.6-acre landfill in West Caln Township and accepted municipal trash and industrial waste. The polluted landfill was declared an EPA Superfund site in 1983. In 1995, Mr. Blosenski and 20 makers of substances found in the landfill agreed to an $18 million settlement for cleanup.
Born in Chester, Mr. Blosenski lived in Honey Brook for most of his life.
A favorite hobby was buying and selling used refuse equipment.
He enjoyed attending the Reading Symphony Orchestra and performances at the Kimmel Center. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ada Moore Blosenski, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
"They were his pride and joy," his family said in a tribute.
In addition to his son and wife of 53 years, he is survived by another son, Joseph M., III; daughters Theresa A. Barlow and Angela C. Morgan; two brothers; two sisters; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A life celebration will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at East Brandywine Baptist Church, 999 Horseshoe Pike, Downingtown, Pa. 19335. Interment will be private.
