33 freshmen to join Penn football

Two-time defending Ivy League champion Penn will have 33 freshmen join the football program in the fall. The freshmen, including Chestnut Hill Academy's Danny Gallagher, are from 14 states. There are 18 offensive players (five linemen, four wide receivers, four running backs, three tight ends, a quarterback and a fullback), 13 defensive players (five backs, three linemen and five linebackers) and two kickers.

Two-time defending Ivy League champion Penn will have 33 freshmen join the football program in the fall.

The freshmen, including Chestnut Hill Academy's Danny Gallagher, are from 14 states. There are 18 offensive players (five linemen, four wide receivers, four running backs, three tight ends, a quarterback and a fullback), 13 defensive players (five backs, three linemen and five linebackers) and two kickers.

"We are really proud of this group. We feel we have another tremendous recruiting class joining the program," Penn coach Al Bagnoli said.

Penn will return 32 letterwinners next season, including nine starters and eight All-Ivy honorees. The Quakers will open the season on Sept. 17 at Franklin Field vs. Lafayette.
