Temple 25th in College Football Playoff rankings

Temple has returned to the College Football Playoff Rankings, landing in the 25th spot. The Owls (9-2 overall, 6-1 American Athletic Conference) are one of two AAC teams in this week's rankings.

Navy (9-1), which has lost only to Notre Dame, is 15th.

It's possible Temple and Navy could meet next week. Both would earn a trip to the inaugural AAC championship with a win in their regular season finale.

Temple hosts Connecticut (6-5, 4-3) in a 7 pm. game Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field. A win earns the Owls the East Division title. A loss would give the championship to South Florida, presuming the Bulls beat winless Central Florida on Thanksgiving.

Navy visits Houston on Friday. The winner will capture the West Division title and host the AAC championship game, Dec. 5 at noon.

This is the third time in the four weeks of the rankings that Temple is included in the CFP rankings. The Owls were 22nd each of the first two ratings before dropping out after a 44-23 loss to South Florida on Nov. 14.
