Temple QB Anthony Russo out for UConn game with injury

HARTFORD, Conn. — Temple quarterback Anthony Russo did not dress for today's regular-season finale against Connecticut due to an undisclosed injury.

The injury occurred during last week's 27-17 win over South Florida. Even though the injury was not disclosed, Russo was seen on the sideline with a blue cast on his right hand.

Russo met with the media after that game but did not speak during the week.

Senior Frank Nutile, who started the first two games before suffering an injury that paved the way for Russo, made the start. Redshirt freshman Todd Centeio also has saw time at quarterback in the first half.

A redshirt sophomore from Archbishop Wood, Russo has started nine games, and Temple is 7-2. He has completed 173-of-299 passes for 2,335 yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

There was no indication whether Russo will be available for Temple's bowl game. Bowl bids will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 2.

Late in the first half Temple also lost running back Ryquell Armstead, who appeared in pain after a 31-yard gain. The injury is not known but Armstead missed two games with an ankle injury.
