West Virginia edges Villanova women

Liz Repella's jumper with 1:26 remaining put No. 9 West Virginia ahead to stay en route to a 39-36 women's Big East victory over Villanova.

Repella scored 14 points for the visiting Mountaineers (9-0, 1-0), who led by as many as 12 in the first half.

A three-pointer by Lindsay Kimmel (12 points) with 2:57 to go had put the Wildcats (5-4, 0-1) ahead, 36-35.
