Villanova basketball hires new assistant

THE VILLANOVA men's basketball team has hired Raphael Chillious as an assistant coach. Chillious had been an assistant coach the past 3 years at the University of Washington.

THE VILLANOVA men's basketball team has hired Raphael Chillious as an assistant coach.

Chillious had been an assistant coach the past 3 years at the University of Washington.

Chillious is a 1996 graduate of Lafayette. While at Lafayette, he was known as Ralph Carter. The Olney, Md., native began his coaching career in 1997 at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. He was head coach at West Nottingham Academy in Colora, Md., from 2001 to '03. In 2003, he was head coach at South Kent School in Connecticut. In 2008, he was named business manager for Nike's Elite Youth Basketball in Beaverton, Ore.

Earlier this month, Villanova announced that newly hired assistant coach Doug Martin had resigned because of inaccuracies in his resume.
