Quarterback Matt Barkley agreed to terms on a four-year deal with the Eagles on Thursday, leaving first-round pick Lane Johnson as the only rookie without a contract six weeks before training camp.
Terms of the deal were not immediately known. A surprising fourth-round draft pick, Barkley was selected 98th overall. The No. 98 pick in the 2012 draft received a four-year, $2.58 million contract. That's more than $10 million less than the four-year, $12.68 million deal signed by Ryan Tannehill, the third quarterback taken in 2012.
Barkley might have been drafted ahead of Tannehill last year, but he decided to return to Southern California for his senior season. His draft stock went down after an injury-plagued campaign.
As for Johnson, the tackle is waiting for the top three picks in the draft to sign. Johnson was the No. 4 overall pick and said the other contracts would help his deal fall in line.
Training camp update
The Eagles announced more details about the five training-camp practices open to fans at Lincoln Financial Field.
Fans will receive scratch-off tickets upon entering the stadium, and winners can get player autographs after practice. All fans 14 and younger can catch passes from Eagles alumni after practice, and there will be face- painting and entertainment two hours before the 12:30 p.m. workouts.
The July 28 practice will be alumni day; the Aug. 5 practice will be military day; the first 10,000 fans 12 and younger at the Aug. 11 practice will receive LeSean McCoy bobbleheads; and the Philadelphia Police and Fire Departments and first responders will be honored at the Aug. 17 practice.
The final practice will be Aug. 26. Free tickets are available on the Eagles website beginning Tuesday. No open practice will be rescheduled if it is called off because of rain.
Security changes
The Eagles announced a new security policy recommended by the NFL that limits the size and type of bags that fans can bring into the stadium for practices and games.
Permissible bags must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and not exceed 12-by- 6-by-12 inches. One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags will be allowed.
Prohibited bags include purses larger than clutch bags, coolers, and seat cushions.
