Eagles sign center Matt Tennant, cut Steve Vallos
The Eagles made a minor move on their offensive line on Tuesday by signing veteran center Matt Tennant and releasing Steve Vallos.
Tennant, 25, was a fifth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2010. He spent two seasons with the Saints before joining the Patriots this season. Tennant played 28 career games and has never started. He was released by the Patriots on Saturday.
Vallos was a backup for the Eagles who competed for a roster spot in training camp and the preseason, but was eventually beaten out by Dallas Reynolds. When Jason Kelce suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2, the Eagles made Reynolds their starter and signed Vallos as a reserve.
Vallos was inactive for the Eagles' past two games, and Tennant at least provides a new face and a different option if Reynolds continues to struggle.
