Eagles' Carson Wentz is Philadelphia Sports Writers Association's Athlete of the Year
Wentz will be honored at the PSWA's annual awards dinner Jan. 15 at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill.
The Philadelphia Sports Writers Association announced Wednesday that it has selected Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz as its Pro Athlete of the Year.
Wentz will be honored at the PSWA's annual awards dinner, set for Jan. 15 at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill. Tickets for the event can be purchased here. The organization hopes Wentz will be able to attend, but that depends on the Eagles' playoff schedule. There's also the matter of his rehab after surgery to repair his torn ACL.
The PSWA previously announced a few other award winners. Longtime Sixers TV play-by-play man Marc Zumoff will get the Bill Campbell Award for broadcasting; Ron Jaworski will get a special achievement award; and former Daily News columnist and sports editor Rich Hofmann will get the Stan Hochman award for contributions to local journalism.
Awards still to be announced include the Living Legend, Native Son and Team of the Year, as well as the Most Courageous Athlete, the organization's top honor.
