Pitman's Matchett chooses Dominican for basketball
The 6-foot-6 forward is hoping to contribute in his first year. He scored 22.2 points last season.
Pitman High senior forward Tim Matchett, a second-team Inquirer all-South Jersey basketball selection last season, will attend Division II Dominican (N.Y.) College on a full scholarship.
"I just felt comfortable with the coaches and the players and liked the school," Matchett said yesterday. "They said if I work hard, I can contribute a lot in my first year."
The 6-foot-6 Matchett averaged 22.2 points per game last season and led Pitman to a 17-10 record. A "B" student who scored 1,220 on the math/verbal portion of the SAT, he plans to major in business.
Matchett also had offers from Division II colleges such as West Chester, Felician, Clarion and Goldey-Beacom. Rowan was among the Division III colleges that was interested.
