Kopsie leads PW to victory in overtime

Jen Kopsie scored only eight points for Plymouth Whitemarsh's girls' basketball team last night, but chances are she will remember every one of them for a long time.

Jen Kopsie scored only eight points for Plymouth Whitemarsh's girls' basketball team last night, but chances are she will remember every one of them for a long time.

Kopsie's three free throws at the end of regulation forced overtime, and she added five more points in a 48-43 Suburban One American Conference win at Upper Merion.

Kopsie was fouled on a three-point attempt with nine-tenths of a second left and made all three free throws to force the overtime.

Teammate Angie Branigan led the Colonials with 13 points and Lexi Piazza added 12. The Vikings' Lisa Ridgeway led all scorers with 21 points.

, 61-23. The Panthers used that quarter to extend a 14-9 lead into a 35-11 halftime advantage. Jackie Kershaw was the only other double-figure scorer for Cheltenham, with 12 points. Nine players scored for the Panthers, who got seven points and 12 rebounds from Alana Brown. Jenny Swiski scored 10 points to lead the Golden Bears.

remained unbeaten with a 47-33 win at

, getting 17 points from Penn State-bound senior Renee Womack. The Warriors (14-0) also got 10 points from Alison Hammond. The Trojans were led by Jenny Knoebel's 14 points.

Fry needed only 57.2 seconds to win the butterfly, and his 2:08.3 outdistanced the 200 IM field.

Another impressive event for the Patriots was the 400-meter freestyle relay, where the team of Mark DiLemmo, Vince Paone, Colson Ferrari and Frey took first place. The Central Bucs East "B" team of Ben Auteri, Pete Linder, Chris Carr and Alex Izewski took third place in the same event.
