Six city leagues teams starting PIAA playoffs

As of this moment, baseball season is still alive for six city leagues members. That could change come Monday or, who knows, you could see that sentence again in Tuesday's good, ol' People Paper.

As of this moment, baseball season is still alive for six city leagues members. That could change come Monday or, who knows, you could see that sentence again in Tuesday's good, ol' People Paper.

It's time for the start of the PIAA playoffs for two teams apiece in Class AAAA and AA and one each in AAA and A.

The local highlight Monday will be a doubleheader at Richie Ashburn Field, in FDR Park across Broad Street from the Wachovia Center. Kennedy-Kenrick will play Delone Catholic in a AA game at noon, followed by the AAAA game between Monsignor Bonner and Great Valley. The schedule is listing that one for 2:30, but 3 or later is more realistic.

K-K is in its final days of existence.

In the other AA contest, it will be Esperanza Charter vs. Bermudian Springs, 4 o'clock at Northern York High in Dillsburg. Central will meet West Chester Henderson at 4 at Glen Mills in the other AAAA game.

In AAA, also at 4, La Salle High will be the site for Archbishop Wood vs. West York.

The A game featuring Girard Academic Music Program vs. Christopher Dock will be played at Montgomery County Community College, in Blue Bell, at 4.
