Timber Creek's Ekwonike headed to Coastal Carolina

Sam Ekwonike didn't know much about Coastal Carolina football before a visit to the campus in Conway, S.C., in the winter.
"As soon as I saw it, I liked it," Ekwonike said of the school located eight miles from the resort area of Myrtle Beach.
A senior at Cinnaminson, Ekwonike has accepted a scholarship offer from Coastal Carolina, a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) program that competes in the Big South Conference.
The 6-foot-3, 340-pound Ekwonike, a three-year starter at Cinnaminson, is projected as an offensive guard at Coastal Carolina.
Ekwonike said he never heard from Coastal Carolina during the football season.
"I had heard of the school, but I didn't know anything about their football team," Ekwonike said. "Once I went down there and saw the facilities and met the coaches, I knew it was the right place for me."
Ekwonike was a two-time, all-West Jersey Football League Patriot Division selection by coaches. He helped Cinnaminson to the Patriot Division title and an 8-3 overall record last season.
Bouzakis to Delaware. Camden Catholic defensive back Darien Bouzakis will attend Delaware as a preferred walk-on.
Bouzakis made 51 tackles last season for the Irish, who went 10-1, captured the WJFL Constitution Division title, and advanced to the Non-Public 2 state final.
"I liked the location and the kind of football they play," Bouzakis said. "The coaches told me if I play well, I'll have the chance to move up [and earn a scholarship]. I'm looking forward to the opportunity."
Big-time offers. Glassboro junior running back Corey Clement, who set the South Jersey single-season record with 2,510 yards in leading the Bulldogs to the South Jersey Group 1 title last season, has received scholarship offers from some of the nation's top college programs.
Clement has offers from schools such as Ohio State, Florida State, Penn State, West Virginia, Purdue, Notre Dame, Rutgers, and Temple, said Glassboro coach Mark Maccarone.
Maccarone said all the top programs are recruiting Clement as a running back.
Unlike some other top players in the Class of 2013 such as Woodbury's Anthony Averett (Alabama), Timber Creek's Greg Webb (Penn State), Eastern's Eli Woodard (Ohio State), and Absegami's Rashad Kinlaw (Notre Dame), Clement is not likely to make an early commitment, Maccarone said.
"I think he's going to take all five of his official visits before he makes a decision," Maccarone said.
