Bishop Eustace tops Gloucester Catholic

Ry'n Bland led Bishop Eustace with 13 points and the Crusaders defeated Gloucester Catholic on Saturday, 53-38, in the Bishop Eustace Invitational boys' basketball showcase.

Bland also recorded five rebounds. Flo DaSilva scored 10 points and added four steals.

Bishop Eustace pulled away from the Rams in the second and third quarters, outscoring Gloucester Catholic by 28-13.

Mike Shawaryn led the Rams with 13 points.

Delran Tournament. Burlington City outscored Northern Burlington by 32-15 in the middle two quarters for a 63-44 victory in the championship game. Josh Young scored 17 points for Burlington City.

Marcus Brown and Stephon Gadiare each had 17 for Northern Burlington.

Boardwalk Basketball Classic/Frank McAlarnen Bracket. Clinton Freeman scored 16 points to lead Wildwood Catholic over Central Bucks East, 39-37, in the bracket semifinals. Jordan Robertson added 15 for the Crusaders. Wildwood Catholic won despite being outrebounded, 36-20.

Kyle Goodson and Garrett Wilson each contributed 10 points for Penns Grove in a 53-47 victory over Mainland. Wilson added nine rebounds. The Red Devils' stubborn defense forced Mainland to turn the ball over 20 times.

Penns Grove will play Wildwood Catholic in the championship game at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Boardwalk Basketball Classic/Jay Craven Bracket. Eddie Thomas recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 boards for Vineland in a 64-19 win over Atlantic Tech.

Vineland's defense allowed just six points over the last three quarters. Charles Ware scored eight points and drew four offensive fouls for the Fighting Clan.

Vineland will face Bristol (Pa.) in the championship game at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Score at the Shore. Pemberton continued its stellar defensive play in a 54-36 victory over Allentown in a fifth-place consolation game. Shaun Brooks collected 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots. Tyler McShea scored eight points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked five shots.

Girls' Basketball

Boardwalk Classic Showcase.

Cherokee forced 34 turnovers and defeated Cape May Tech, 41-23. Maddie Etkins led all players with 13 points.

Jessica McAnulty scored six points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Cape May Tech.

Boardwalk Basketball Classic/Big Al Bracket. Olivia Rulon registered 21 points and 10 boards as Wildwood Catholic beat Vineland in a consolation game, 49-42.

Ariana Stokes led the way for Vineland with 20 points and 13 rebounds. The Fighting Clan hit only 15 of their 56 attempts from the field.

Wrestling

Bethlehem Holiday Tournament.

Camden Catholic finished sixth among 28 teams with a score of 116.

Chad Walsh won the 152-pound class, pinning Ty Schoffstall of Tri Valley in 4 minutes, 27 seconds in the finals.

Irish heavyweight Jeff Miller finished second. He was wrestling Michael Johnson of Wyoming Seminary in the final, but the match was halted because of an injury Miller suffered.
