King's Angus makes commitment to play football at Florida
The 6-6, 320-pound senior will likely play offensive tackle for the Gators.

DONTAE ANGUS went the sight-unseen route while making his college decision, but it's not as if he'll be trekking into the great unknown.
The 6-6, 320-pound Angus, a rising senior at Martin Luther King High after earlier stops at Olney Charter and now-closed Germantown, has made an oral promise to Florida.
His position likely will be offensive tackle, but defensive tackle is also a possibility.
"The coach who recruited me [Tim Davis, offensive line assistant] said he was really surprised how well I could move considering my height and weight," Angus said.
Davis delivered that evaluation during an April meeting with Angus. When Dontae was asked what else might have been said in that session, he laughed and came up empty.
"I was just so excited to even be in the same room with a coach from Florida," he said. "The meeting lasted maybe 20-25 minutes. That whole time, I sat there with a big smile on my face. I never asked coach Davis this, but I kept thinking, 'How does Florida know about me?' "
Angus said he was summoned to the office by Ed Dunn, then a Germantown assistant and now King's head coach. Dunn and assistant Kelly Cottle, also moving from G-town to King, did major work - mostly by sending out films - to spread the word about Angus.
Angus received nine offers; visits were made to Rutgers, Massachusetts and West Virginia.
"I've wanted to go to Florida all along. That's always been my favorite," he said. "Once they said they wanted me . . . They were showing great interest all along. They were talking to [Cottle] for more than a month, saying how they'd work with me on academics and provide all the necessary counseling help.
"My phone was messed up for a while. But I recently called coach Davis and we had a great conversation. For maybe an hour. I'm so excited about this."
Angus also heard great things about Florida from Michelle "Mickey" Grace, a former Germantown player who's fast friends with George Washington/Florida product Sharrif Floyd, recently picked in the first round of the NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
"She always told me how much Sharrif was liking Florida, and how great everyone was treating him," Angus said. "Sharrif has been my favorite player for a while. His life story is like 'Blind Side.' I root for him so much. I want to have the same kind of success."
One last thing about Angus, who lives on Pennhurst Street, not far from G and Wyoming . . . He's part of this off-the-wall city record: Biggest weight differential between a team's kicker and punter (175 pounds).
In 2011, at 310 pounds, Angus handled kickoffs for Olney. The punter was 135-pound Valsky Auguste.
