Archbishop Wood senior guard Andrew Funk committed on Monday to play basketball at Bucknell.

"The strong combination of academics and athletics was a big reason behind my decision," the 6-foot-4, 180-pounder said.

Last season, as Wood's sixth man, Funk averaged about seven points, three rebounds, and three assists to help the Vikings go 28-3 overall, win their first Catholic League championship, and claim the PIAA Class 5A state crown.

Funk, of Warrington, also gave serious consideration to Delaware, which he visited last week, and Penn.

The Bison, guided by head coach Nathan Davis, went 26-9 last season, defeated Lehigh for the Patriot League title, and made their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2013.

Funk will compete against his brother, Tommy, a sophomore guard at Army, in head-to-head Patriot League action for two seasons. Tommy Funk, a former Wood standout, averaged 9.1 points last season and was named to the league's all-rookie team.

"It's going to be an interesting dynamic," Andrew Funk said. "We're looking forward to it. I think it will add some competitive spirit to the game."

Another Catholic League player, St. Joseph's Prep senior forward Ed Croswell, committed to La Salle over the weekend.

The 6-foot-8, 240-pounder, a second-team all-Catholic League pick last season, chose the Explorers over Morgan State, Nicholls State, Rider, and Towson.

Croswell visited La Salle from last Thursday to Saturday.

"I had a real good connection with the players," said the 17-year-old from North Philly.

Croswell, who plays AAU ball for Philly Pride, averaged about 15 points and 12 boards last season as the Prep went 15-8 overall and reached the Catholic League playoff quarterfinals.
