Former Today show anchor Jenna Wolfe walked away from NBC back in 2015. Now it appears she might be heading back to TV.

Wolfe, who worked for PHL17 as the network's first female sportscaster prior to her 8-year stint on the Today show, is reportedly a finalist to join former Eagles wide receiver Cris Carter and sports radio host Nick Wright Fox Sports new First Things First morning show, which is set to debut days before the start of the NFL season.

Sources told Sporting News reporter Michael McCarthy that Wolfe "killed" her audition to join the duo on their new morning show, though she is reportedly one of several female anchors being considered for the role.

Neither Wolfe nor Fox Sports responded to requests for comment.

The show is moving forward despite the sudden firing of Fox Sports president Jamie Horowitz, who was forced out after an investigation by parent company 21st Century Fox into allegations of sexual harassment. Howowitz, through his lawyer, has denied all the charges, calling them "slanderous accusations."

Wolfe worked with Horowitz during his brief stint on the Today show. Horowitz had been recruited from ESPN to help fix the show's slumping ratings, but was fired after just three months after proposing major changes to the program, which included dropping lead co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

Wolfe was demoted as co-anchor of the Today show in 2014, and walked away from NBC for good in November 2015. Since then, Wolfe has worked to develop a company and brand around personal fitness. Part of the endeavor involved hosted a daily fitness show on Facebook, which she ended after seven months back in May.

"We'll come back in another form at some point," Wolff told her viewers in her final episode. "Details are fuzzy."

First Things First is scheduled to debut on Tuesday, Sept. 5, just two days before the 2017 NFL season kicks off. The show, which will air on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., will act as a lead-in to the Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe hosted Undisputed.

The new morning show will have a four month head start on ESPN, which is working on launching it's own morning show with Mike & Mike co-host Mike Greenberg, which is tentatively scheduled to debut in January 2018.
