Ben Davis added to Phillies' broadcast team
The Philly-area native takes the place of another Philly-area native, Jamie Moyer.
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Comcast SportsNet is replacing one Philadelphia-area native former major leaguer with another in its broadcast booth for Phillies games this season.
The network announced yesterday that Ben Davis will join the broadcast team for the 2015 season, joining fellow analysts Matt Stairs and Mike Schmidt, play-by-play man Tom McCarthy, and in-game reporter Gregg Murphy.
Davis, a Malvern Prep graduate selected by San Diego with the No. 2 pick in the 1995 draft, replaces Souderton native Jamie Moyer. Moyer, a member of the 2008 Phillies world championship team, said in November that he wouldn't be returning so he could be closer to his family on the West Coast.
Davis, 37, has spent the last four seasons as an in-studio analyst for Comcast SportsNet's pregame and postgame Phillies coverage.
Davis' schedule will be similar to the one Moyer had last season. He and Stairs will rotate in the booth as the main analyst with McCarthy, and they also will work together, as a three-man team, for select games.
Schmidt, who was the third man in the booth on Sunday games at Citizens Bank Park last season, likely will return to the same role in 2015.
