After missing the final three months of double-A Reading's season because of injury, Phillies outfield prospect Roman Quinn will make up at-bats in winter ball.
Quinn, 22, has recovered from the tear in his hip flexor and will in the coming days join Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Republic. The team, based out of the capital city of Santo Domingo, plays its season opener on Oct. 15.
Before sustaining his injury on June 12, Quinn batted .306 with a .791 OPS in his first 58 games of double-A ball. The speedy centerfielder from Port St. Joe, Fla., also stole 29 bases in 39 attempts. He was originally a second-round draft pick of the Phillies in 2011.
