Former NBA rookie of the year Tyreke Evans is ready for a change of scenery, according to sources familiar with his thinking.
Sources told ESPN.com that Evans, frustrated by the state of his negotiations with the Sacramento Kings as a restricted free agent, is determined to leave the organization and plans to sign an offer sheet with the New Orleans Pelicans on the first allowable day.
Although the Pelicans technically were still waiting for Evans to orally commit to signing the offer sheet, sources close to the situation regard that as "an inevitability" by week's end. Evans then would formally sign the four-year, $44 million offer sheet on July 10, when the league's annual moratorium on signings and trades is lifted. Sacramento would have three days to either match or pass on the offer.
Ginobili stays with Spurs
Manu Ginobili is sticking around to see whether the San Antonio Spurs can get back to the top.
Ginobili tweeted Wednesday that he is staying with the team he has helped win three NBA titles and nearly a fourth last month.
Ginobili, who will turn 36 this month, figures to take a pay cut from the $14.1 million he made last season as the Spurs' highest-paid player.
Grizzlies re-sign Allen
The Memphis Grizzlies have re-signed Tony Allen to a four-year contract worth $20 million, a person familiar with the agreement said Tuesday.
Allen is one of the league's best perimeter defenders and a key to the Grizzlies' run to the Western Conference finals last season.
