Christen Press, Samantha Mewis lead U.S. women's soccer team's 6-0 blowout of South Korea

The U.S. women's soccer team concluded its two-game series against South Korea with a 6-0 blowout win Sunday afternoon at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

U.S. head coach Jill Ellis made many changes to the lineup that won the first matchup last Thursday by a 3-1 margin. Ashlyn Harris started in net, right back Sofia Huerta got her first national team start, and Christen Press led a front three attack with Alex Morgan on her left and Lynn Williams on her right.

In the second half, 22-year-old goalkeeper Jane Campbell replaced Harris, earning her third national team cap; and McCall Zerboni made her national team debut two months shy of her 31st birthday.

Zerboni was a key cog in the North Carolina Courage's run to the best record in the NWSL this year. She is the oldest player to make her national team debut in program history.

Carli Lloyd played the final 26 minutes, and came close to scoring twice. In the 78th minute, her leaping header of a cross from Williams hit the post; and in the 80th, she forced a save from South Korean backup goalkeeper Kim Min-jeong. She had replaced starter Kang Ga-ae, who exited a few minutes earlier after a collision with Williams.
