Hired by Mayor Jim Kenney early in 2020 as Police Commissioner of Philadelphia, Danielle Outlaw led the department during a time marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, the George Floyd protests, and high rates of shootings in the city.

Outlaw announced Tuesday she will step down to become a deputy security chief at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
