Independence Day was commemorated in a variety ways in the region. Parades, concerts, fireworks and a naturalization ceremony marked the birth of the United States of America.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services welcomed 42 new U.S. citizens — including nine U.S. military service members from the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard during the naturalization ceremony.
