Philadelphia City Council members voted 12-5 to approve the controversial proposal for a new Center City arena for the Sixers.

The vote comes two years after the 76ers announced their desire to build a $1.3 billion arena above the Fashion District and SEPTA's Jefferson Station. It has been touted as an opportunity to revitalize the Market East corridor and panned as an existential threat to nearby Chinatown.
