“I’m here to declare myself an independent candidate for president of the United States,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced on Independence Mall on Monday.
Kennedy quit his bid for the Democratic nomination for the White House. His family name and history are synonymous with the Democratic Party, but he had been attacking the DNC for not holding primary debates (the norm when a party’s incumbents are running for reelection).
