U.S. Senate
Last year, N.J. Sen. Bob Menendez was indicted for allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for political influence. After facing mounting pressure Mendendez announced he would not be running as a Democrat – opening up the race on both sides of the aisle.
Menendez has since announced he will run as an independent candidate. He will face the winners of both party primaries in November.
U.S. president
Both Republican and Democratic presidential primaries are more of a formality. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have been named presumptive nominees of their parties by the AP — setting up a 2020 rematch for November.
Activists across the country have encouraged Democratic voters to vote "uncommitted" in the presidential primary as a show of frustration with the Biden administration and in support of a cease-fire in Gaza.
U.S. House
New Jersey sends 12 representatives to the U.S. House – currently three Republicans, eight Democrats, and one vacant seat.

About the data
Results come directly from the Associated Press.
The AP’s expected turnout counts are estimates that may change throughout the night. That means that they become more accurate as votes are counted, giving a clearer and clearer picture of how much of the vote is left to be counted.
It also means the numbers can shift slightly, including going up or down as the expected turnout count is adjusted. That doesn’t mean something nefarious is going on — it just means the AP is updating its estimate to reflect new information.
For more information about expected turnout and why we use it, we have a visual explainer.
