Republican VP nominee JD Vance is coming to South Philly on Tuesday
Vance’s visit is happening on the same day Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to appear in the city with her vice presidential nominee.
All eyes will be on Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Ohio Sen. JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, will make a campaign stop in South Philadelphia Tuesday, former president Donald Trump’s campaign confirmed.
Vance will appear at the 2300 Arena, at Ritner and Swanson, which seats about 2,000 for a “media availability,” around noon.
Vance’s visit is happening on the same day Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to appear in the city with her vice presidential nominee. That appearance is planned for Temple University’s Liacouras Center, in the early evening.
Who will be by Harris’ side remains up in the air, at least publicly.
Harris reportedly met with front-runners for the job, including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, in Washington Sunday, for final interviews before she makes a decision on whom she wants on her ticket.
Though Tuesday’s visit will be Vance’s first stop in Pennsylvania since former President Donald Trump named him as his running mate, Trump has said Vance would be practically living in Pennsylvania as the campaign hopes to use his rural upbringing story to appeal to voters in parts of the state.
Vance will also travel to several other swing states Harris is campaigning in with her running mate this week, including Wisconsin and North Carolina, to provide counter-programming from the Trump campaign.
“The Trump-Vance Administration will make America Great again by reintroducing common-sense economic policies for American families and restore law and order across Pennsylvania and the rest of our great nation!” the Trump campaign said in a release.
